Volunteer Information:
At Great Explorations we love volunteers! Volunteers are welcome to help in all areas of the museum. You can apply to become a short term volunteer, for a special event, a long term volunteer or work towards Bright Futures hours.
Volunteers are currently needed in the following programs/departments:
Lobby/ Reception (Greeting guests, answering phones)
Gift Shop (Helping customers, answering the phone)
Administrative office (Filing, writing thank you letters, making phone calls)
Gallery Floor (Interacting with museum visitors, helping with shows, helping keep the museum tidy)
Early Explorations Preschool (Helping pre school teachers)
Summer Camp (Helping summer camp teachers)
Monthly Special Events (Help with special activities in the museum gallery)
Great Explorations also has a Youth Leadership program for teens ages 12-18. This is an opportunity for teens to become involved in the museum on a regular basis. The members of the Youth Leadership Program participate in leadership workshops and challenges, serve on a focus group for exhibits and programs, develop trainings for other youth volunteers, plan special events, and take an active role in the museum.

AMERICORPS VOLUNTEERS:
Great Explorations currently has 12 full time AmeriCorps members and 1 part time member serving in the museum. Our AmeriCorps members serve the community through outreaches at local schools and events as well as providing resources for parents and families through parenting classes and informational materials.
